Because I have been unreasonably productive lately. So far today I have bought an F41 Park Avenue Ultra front sway bar for my (much lighter) LeSabre to go with my STS FE3 rear sway bar, picked up a subwoofer from a friend, got a transmission connector, and nearly finished building a shittily-ported box for said subwoofer.
I pick up the sway bar tomorrow (it has to be shipped into town), which I got for $35. The subwoofer cabinet is actually a sony three-way cabinet with no back that I'm making a back for and taking out one of the tweeters to make a 'port hole'. I also had to enlarge the sub hole and screw in some self-tapping screws into particleboard with a hand screwdriver. Ugh.
The transmission connector was $10, and is the portion of the wiring harness that plugs into the transmission. I am going to hook this up to some switches and begin learning how the tranny works and prototyping my trans controller. Hopefully within a month I will have either flappy paddles or a big-ass clunky shift lever, depending on what mood I'm in when I build it.
I also finally got dual monitors on my desk! Yay~
Aaaand I took in our troublesome LG 1080p 120hz 42" TV to get fixed. Again. Fit rather well into the Sofas back seat.

I miss my dual monitor setup, my secondary 15" died a year ago. Its USB hub still works fine.

have you done any research into whether the box for the sub and port are the correct size? It doesn't take much to check it out, and having the correct sizes for things instead of winging it makes a HUGE difference in how much and quality of sound you get out of a given speaker.

I've done fuck-all for research because this is what I have to work with so I might as well just roll with it. I did a test and it sounded pretty good. Not very loud, but it was a tight noise and not boomy like some ported boxes I know of.

Yeah I just looked it up. My box is too wide, not tall enough, and not tilted. Better than no box, though, so I'll roll with it.

not tilted? That weirdly specific. I would just worry about the total internal volume and the port diameter, and perhaps if there is a tube on the port. You really need to get the volume and port size right. The air inside the box works with the speaker much like a properly tuned suspension. If the box is too small, its like too stiff of springs in a car. You don't get the volume you want and it restricts the speaker. A box that is too big, and its like you have way too soft of springs, the sound won't be as tight or crisp. It's a tuned system. I wouldn't worry so much about the specific geometry, but definitely try to get the volume of the box right. You can just fill part in if it is too big, and if it is too small by just a bit, putting some insulation inside is a cheap trick to make the box seem bigger to the speaker. There is a bunch of info on it with a quick search. ( I should be doing work right now, damn)

That's awesome that you are trying to figure how to shift you auto manually!

Yeah, Now I need to figure out which wires the PCM needs to let the car *Start* with the trans unplugged.

Yeah, I feel like the porthole is close to the right size, but the box is probably FAR too big and I've heard you want the front and back of the cabinet to not be parallel. As it is right now I'm just trying to keep it from rattling. Need a drill D:

LiteOn mechanical. With an AT plug. Has ALPS White Complex mechanical keyswitches. Similar in feel to a Model M, but a little bit lighter and not quite as loud. I love it though :D
